Supported by Art Teacher Maggie Royle, five young women undertook
a moving image skills program to produce Time Capsule DVDs. This
featured Big Brother-style interviews, a video survey of the
influence upon public opinion of media stereotypes of young motherhood,
and roving video-diaries to find Mr Wrong & Mr Right based on cards produced by Bristol City Council to combat domestic abuse.

‘In The Future You Will See’ represents a genuine collaboration
between the artist and the young women, made possible by inclusive,
trusting relationships developed during the residency. The environment
constructed for this particular conversation is familiar, the painting
and film references are obvious, the degree of intimacy of the
discussion is, however unexpected. Hughes introduces the subjects of
love, sex, race and religion; these topics are debated with sincere
moral passion and personal experience.'
The film
premiered at the Odeon Cinema in Broadmead Shopping centre, Bristol.
The young stars arrived in a limousine to a rapturous reception from
their
schoolmates and children. Some thought the event an
extension of the work due to the novelty of watching a film in a cinema
with crying babies.
