Koh Larn is a small island in the Gulf of Thailand. I worked with the interplay of light, water, colour and sound. A powerful soundscape was generated by boats' hulls grinding against palm-tree trunks and truck tyres which protected them from the harbour wall. As passengers were helped aboard, the joining of arms and hands made these extreme physical forces seem more threatening. Arriving on the mainland, the fraternal ritual of clasped hands, locked arms, and children passed between adults is repeated.
